Low intervention Bee keeping @ Asthall Manor, Asthall
Saturday, 2 May 2026
- Time
- 10:00 - 16:00
Venue:- Asthall Manor, Burford, Oxfordshire, OX18 4HW
Join us for a workshop on low intervention beekeeping here at Asthall Manor Kitchen Garden.
Complete beginners through to keen amateurs all welcome. In this all-day workshop you will learn the basics of keeping healthy bees in a low intervention, chemical free manner with a bit of helpful theory. We will look at different approaches ranging from hands off bee hosting through to low interference honey harvesting.
Conventional beekeeping emphasises beekeeper inputs and beekeeper control. We will be looking at bee-centred approaches that give control back to the bees, allowing them to be healthy in their own manner.
Places are limited to 10 people in order to maintain a quality experience for those attending the workshop. There will be a mix of show and tell. There are several occupied hives in the garden and some empty ones will be available for you to look at too.
The course will be delivered by Gareth John an internationally known natural beekeeper with over 50 years of experience. In recent decades he has been at the forefront of developing low intervention, chemical-free methods of allowing bees to be happy and healthy.
